CCP Tanghalang Nicanor Aberlardo, The Cultural Center of the Philippines and Ballet Philippines present Ballet Philippines` 40th Concert Season. Witness a ballet-filled concert of the country’s best ballet dancers. Amaze yourself with the dancers’ dazzling costumes and breath-taking performances in the nights of March 5, 6 and 7 2010.

NEO-FILIPINO 2010 : DANCE IN A TIME OF CHANGE

As the fourth and final offering of Ballet Philippines ` 40th Anniversary season, BP returns to present the best new dance in a showcase of cutting-edge contemporary choreography in Neo-Filipino 2010: Dance In A Time of Change.

Stemming from Denisa Reyes` landmark New York concert, the Neo-Filipino series was transported to the Philippines through its first production in 1991. Since then, the series has presented works from leading choreographers with collaborations from across the other arts. Previous Neo-Filipino productions have highlighted collaborations with theater directors, filmmakers, visual artists, actors, sculptors and musicians in the pursuit of a truly avant-garde and exciting vision for Philippine dance.

Neo-Filipino 2010: Dance In A Time of Change continues this tradition and culls dance from myriad concerns of our evolving times. In this important election year, where our future hangs in the flux of possibility, Ballet Philippines presents works by young choreographers whose aspirations embody the pulse of the age.

BP ballerinas Carissa Adea and Ea Torrado explore urban and personal concerns in Rey-Sing and Two of You. BP alumni Dwight Rodrigazo, now artistic director of his own school and dance company based in Bacolod City , returns to Ballet Philippines with his trademark pulling movements in a new work for the company. Novy Bereber, also a former BP member, presents his To Whom It May Concern, a work that directly addresses the plight and travails of the Filipino dance artist in the time of globalization. Resident choreographer Alden Lugnasin premieres Words and Phrases, an ambitious collaborative work inspired from the paintings of Bienvenido Benitez put into video motion by award-winning filmmaker Emerson Reyes.

Let the Love fill the atmoshpere!

Valentines Day is fast approaching. Majority will be purchasing love oriented materials for their special someone. Teddy bears, bouquets of flowers, sweet chocolates and love letters come in the market by demand. You’ll see lovers in every corner of the world.

Dates happen by the sea, a picnic at the park, a joy ride near the heavens, an adventure trip specially set for two or a simple romantic event participation with your partner; whatever your style of spending out the entire day of February 14 of 2010, you can always expect some interruptions or misleadings of some part of your show.

Sometimes, we tend to forget to set things up but we think of the brighter side. Guys sometimes rely too much on their money that they make others do the work to have the best for their ladies. However, much and much money is wasted.

Guys! You have to be practical. Girls highly appreciate things which are done personally with sincerity. A perfect date doesn’t require a huge dump off of bucks. Ponder this line: Simplicity is beauty. Although such qoute doesn’t apply in most cases, it for sure fits in this season of lovers considering the economic crisis the world is facing.

This Valentines, spend less money for a special night of entertainment with your loved ones. Go to your nearest ticket outlets and see if you can handle these loads of concerts lined up for lovers in the country.

Listed below are Love-oriented concerts to be held in this Love Month. Time to mark those calendars because cupid is ready to hit some hearts!

JON SANTOS CONCERT

Posted: February 2, 2010 in Uncategorized

Election is fast approaching. With it comes teams of country leader hopefuls sprawling out in the open with endless promises, faultfindings and bombardment of honorable acts.

Don’t get this too serious folks. Let’s talk about election in a fun way. One way is attending a concert related to politics. Watch Jon Santos’ election-oriented concert on Feb. 10,  2010, Wednesday at 8:30 pm at the Teatrino Promenade. Witness one of the country’s best impersonator live tickling your minds about the truth.

Dubbed as  Kuring, Gluring, Syerap, Dyuning “Eleksyon in Nearing”, Jon Santos’ introduces five personas in one the concert. Yes! You heard it right! One concert, five casts- one artist.

This ‘all-star-cast of one’ comedy concert tells a story about a news journalist named Kuring. She will marry a running official. Here comes Mommy Dyuning. She’s a star-in-the-making. She gets in the spotlight after having his son won millions of dollars. And there follows Syerap who does what he wants to. He’s not good in English speaking and his son is a government leader too. Clap your hands in the air for Gluring is in the house. She rules the country and with no doubt- majority dislike her. Another personality comes in the way and I’ll leave it uncited folks.

Caught up with the storyline? Above is just a part of it. See it live with your family and friends. The concert is good for all ages.
